SSU detains another enemy agent plotting terrorist attack in downtown Dnipro

The SSU Counterintelligence has thwarted another terrorist attack planned by the aggressor in Dnipro. As a result of pre-emptive actions, an enemy agent was detained while preparing an explosion on one of the central streets of the city.

The investigation revealed that the perpetrator had manufactured an improvised explosive device, concealed it in a backpack, and intended to transport it to the planned attack site. The ruscists planned to detonate the bomb remotely by calling a mobile phone attached to it.

The Security Service caught the agent in Dnipro while she was in a rented apartment, having prepared the IED and waiting for her handler’s instructions regarding the specific location.

The enemy’s task was carried out by a drug-dependent woman from Zhytomyr region. She was recruited by the occupiers via a Telegram channel offering ‘easy money’.

The asset was deployed to Dnipro, where she rented a flat and received instructions from russia on how to manufacture an explosive device. To enable remote detonation, the agent equipped the bomb with a mobile phone with remote access for the russian intelligence.

Explosives and a smartphone containing evidence of cooperation with the occupiers were seized during the search.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Articles 14.1 and 258.2 of the CCU (preparation for a terrorist act).

The suspect is currently in custody without bail and faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Dnipropetrovsk Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
