SSU detains village chief from Kyiv region who showed russian troops road routes to advance on capital

As a result of operational and investigative activities in Kyiv region, the SSU Counterintelligence exposed another enemy accomplice.

The perpetrator is the head of Ozera village in Hostomel community, who in the early days of the full-scale invasion supported russian invaders and offered them his assistance in the war against Ukraine.

The investigation established that on February 24, 2022, the man had helped the russian occupation groups navigate the area during their advance on Kyiv.

It was this individual who showed the ruscists road routes for their military convoys to move towards the capital through Hostomel and Moshchun.

Later, the traitor accompanied russian battalion tactical groups that stormed both Ukrainian villages, trying to break through to Kyiv.

The russian servicemen gave the village chief an AK-74S assault rifle and a white armband as a distinctive mark of the enemy troops.

Further, the collaborator personally participated in patrolling local settlements and provided the enemy with the addresses of Ukrainian patriots.

The village head also organized ‘cantonment’ of russian military personnel in the homes of locals who had left the area and handed over municipal vehicles to the invaders.

After the liberation of the region, the traitor remained in the village, hoping to evade justice.

However, he did not succeed: the SSU detained the suspect at his home near Hostomel.

Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

The court chose custody as a measure of restraint.

The SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region carried out the operation under the supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
