SSU detains FSB agent - taxi driver who guided strikes at Odesa while transporting passengers

The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another agent of russia’s FSB in Odesa. The perpetrator, a local taxi driver recruited by the enemy, was adjusting russian missile and drone strikes on the city.

According to the investigation, he identified the locations of Ukraine’s Defence Forces as well as local power substations, which the aggressor sought for a new wave of airstrikes.

The agent operated under the cover of passenger transportation, moving around the city and surrounding areas while fulfilling taxi orders.

While en route to pick up clients or after completing rides, he photographed the perimeters of potential targets and marked their geolocations using Google Maps.

He used a smartphone and tablet to collect visual intelligence and compile reports, which were then sent to russia’s federal security service via an anonymous messaging channel.

The SSU apprehended the agent at his home. During the searches, the law enforcement team seized his electronic devices and SIM cards containing stored intelligence data, along with evidence of communication with his russian handler.

According to investigators, the man first came to the FSB’s attention in late 2025 while searching online for ‘easy money’ opportunities.

For promises of quick earnings, he agreed to gather and transmit coordinates for future strikes on Odesa.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, together with the SSU Odesa Office, under the procedural supervision of the Odesa Region Prosecutor’s Office.
