The Military Counterintelligence of the SSU detained a russian agent in Dnipro who, acting on behalf of the enemy, organised a large-scale scheme for the unlawful verification of Starlink systems.

According to the investigation, the suspect was identified as a native of Luhansk region who came to the attention of russian intelligence services through Telegram channels offering ‘easy money’.

In exchange for money, the perpetrator used the bank details provided to him by his handler in russia and initially registered the Starlink station in his own name.

Subsequently, the agent was instructed to involve as many people as possible in the covert verification of the satellite equipment.

To carry out this assignment, the suspect decided to activate Starlink systems at the branches of postal operators using the personal data of straw buyers.

The investigation established that, through this scheme, the organiser of the criminal operation verified more than 1,000 satellite communication terminals for rashists.

The SSU officers exposed the agent, documented his crimes and arrested him at his home. During a search, a smartphone containing evidence of his activities on behalf of the enemy was seized.

In addition, the SSU blocked all Starlink stations that the perpetrator had registered illegally.

The SSU investigators have served suspicion notice to the suspect under Article 111-2.1 of the CCU (aiding an aggressor state).

The suspect faces up to 12 years of imprisonment.
