SSU detains traitor in Dnipro who helped ruscists detect AFU radars to get around Ukrainian air defences

In Dnipro, the SSU Counterintelligence detained another agent of russian military intelligence. The perpetrator reconnoitered locations of air defence systems and logistical routes of Ukraine’s Defence Forces in the region.

Primarily, he tried to identify positions of Ukrainian radar systems.

The occupiers needed this information to try to get past Ukrainian air defence during new air strikes.

In the case of obtaining accurate coordinates, the invaders planned to carry out targeted missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian radar stations.

The asset was also tasked to identify main routes used by fuel tankers moving towards the frontline.

The SSU uncovered the enemy accomplice at the initial stage of his activity.

His criminal actions were documented and he was detained. The SSU also identified his russian handler – an officer of the GRU (the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces).

The latter recruited the resident of Dnipro remotely in December 2023.

He came to the aggressor’s attention as an ideological supporter of ruscism, posting his anti-Ukrainian messages on Telegram channels of pro-kremlin bloggers.

To gather intelligence, the traitor drove in the area in his car and covertly recorded ‘targets’. Communication with the enemy was carried out through a popular messenger app.

During the searches in the suspect’s home, the SSU found computer equipment and a mobile phone with evidence of his communication with the GRU.

SSU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment.

The operation was carried out by the SSU under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
