As a result of a large-scale special operation in Kharkiv, the SSU Counterintelligence exposed another russian agent.

The offender was preparing terrorist attacks against the servicemen of the Defence Forces in Kharkiv.

To do this, he was spying on Ukrainian defenders, trying to establish their temporary base and deployment sites, as well as routes of travel in their personal cars.

Military pilots, commanders of the AFU’s special units and employees of the SSU were of special interest to the enemy agent.

The SSU documented the facts of covert surveillance, photo and video recording of the territory adjacent to Ukrainian defenders and their vehicles.

The SSU detained the suspect on his attempt to pass the intelligence to the aggressor.

The SSU also uncovered a cache with explosives, which the enemy planned to use for terrorist attacks, near one of the houses where Ukrainian servicemen live.

According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is a local resident who was recruited in November 2022 by A.P. Salitsev, a serving officer of the FSB operational group in Belgorod region.

It was established that the suspect’s relative living in russia had facilitated the communication between him and the enemy special service.

In addition to surveillance of Ukrainian defenders, the offender performed enemy assignments to identify disguised enterprises of Ukraine’s defence industry.

The occupiers needed coordinates of strategic facilities to conduct targeted missile strikes.

To communicate with the FSB, the agent used anonymous messenger apps and passed intelligence in the form of georeferenced media files.

During the search of the suspect’s home, the SSU found:

• a mobile phone with evidence of communication with the FSB;
• a russian passport;
• a certificate of registration with the former consulate general of russia in Kharkiv.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the detained individual a notice of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

He is currently in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
