In Kropyvnytskyi, the SSU Counterintelligence has detained another agent of russia’s federal security service who was guiding russian missile and drone strikes against fuel and energy infrastructure in central Ukraine.

Two hunting knives were seized from the suspect during his arrest; he had been carrying them to use against law enforcement officers should he be exposed. However, the SSU acted so swiftly that the agent did not use them.

SSU operatives also seized a smartphone, which he had been using to film the outer perimeter of a local infrastructure facility against which russia was preparing a combined strike.

The investigation revealed that the spotter helping russia to prepare the strike is a local unemployed man. He came to the FSB’s attention via Telegram channels offering ‘easy’ money.

Following their instructions, the agent travelled around the regional centre and neighbouring districts by taxi or bicycle, filming potential ‘targets’ on his phone and reporting back to his handler in russia.

The aggressor state was interested in the coordinates of infrastructure and logistics facilities.

The Security Service identified the agent at an early stage of his collaboration with the FSB and apprehended him while he was conducting reconnaissance near the site of an attack planned by ruscists.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of his status as a suspect under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The enemy accomplice is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Kirovohrad region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
