SSU detains russian citizen in Kyiv for selling counterfeit documents to draft evaders for travelling abroad
In Kyiv, the SSU shut down a channel used by Ukrainian citizens of military age to illegally leave our country.
The unlawful scheme was organized by a russian citizen who came to Ukraine before the full-scale invasion and received a lawyer’s certificate.
After 24 February 2022, he began to offer potential conscripts his ‘assistance’ in illegally travelling to the EU.
The organizer ‘registered’ his clients as international freight drivers.
To enter fictitious ‘information’ into the Shliakh system, the offender involved an accomplice - an official of Kyiv Region Military Administration.
The SSU documented the crime and detained the organizer in Kyiv, when he received USD 10,000 for a group of ‘clients’.
During the searches at the suspect’s home, the SSU found:
- F-1 combat grenade;
- a certificate of a volunteer organization of a territorial community in Kyiv region;
- russian military ID;
- documents with evidence of the unlawful activities.
Both suspects have been notified of suspicion under Article 332.3 of the CCU (illegal transfer of persons across Ukraine’s state border).
The russian citizen involved is also suspected under Article 263.1 of the CCU (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives).
Court is to decide on custody as a measure of restraint.
The investigation is underway.
The SSU carried out the operation jointly with the National Police under the supervision of Pechersk District Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv and with the assistance of Kyiv Region Military Administration.
