Kyiv: SSU detains former foreign military instructor on suspicion of working for FSB (video)

SSU Counterintelligence and investigators have detained a foreign FSB agent in Kyiv. The suspect is a former military instructor from one of the European countries recruited by the ruscists.

According to the investigation, the foreign national passed on classified information about the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the enemy and was preparing to carry out terrorist attacks.

It has been established, in early 2024, the perpetrator with professional fire and tactical training skills arrived in our country to instruct mobilized troops.

However, after several months, he stopped this work. Seeking ‘easy money’, he began offering his services to russian special services by posting ‘advertisements’ in various pro-Kremlin online groups.

Subsequently, an FSB officer contacted him. Following the recruitment, the handler began assigning tasks to the foreign agent.

According to findings, the agent passed the following information to ruscists:

  • details on foreign instructors of the Defense Forces, with whom he had previously communicated;
  • coordinates of the AFU training centers in southern Ukraine where he had instructed mobilized troops.

To prepare him for next assignments, the occupiers provided him with instructions for making an improvised explosive device. They also sent him the coordinates of a weapons cache, from which he retrieved a pistol with two loaded magazines.

The SSU counterintelligence timely exposed the enemy accomplice, documented his crimes, and detained him at his temporary residence in Kyiv.

SSU investigators have notified him of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information about the deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, committed under martial law).

The investigation is ongoing to establish all circumstances of the crime and to consider potential additional charges.

The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Prosecutor General’s Office.
