SSU detains Kyiv engineers who helped ruscists repair damaged oil refineries
The Security Service of Ukraine has thwarted yet another attempt by the occupiers to obtain advanced Ukrainian technologies in the fuel and energy sector.
As a result of the operation, the head of a department and two engineers from a design company have been detained in Kyiv. They had been using specialised software to restore facilities in russia’s oil and gas industry.
The investigation established that the suspects were carrying out orders for an engineering firm from the aggressor state, engaged in the reconstruction of the sanctioned, damaged russian oil refineries.
For russian money, Kyiv-based designers were developing project documentation for the repair of technological systems and units at russian oil refineries.
To prepare the relevant drawings, diagrams, and action protocols, they used the latest IT products.
According to the SSU cyber units, the engineers used private chats on messaging apps and email to communicate with the russian clients.
The SSU documented the crime and detained the suspects.
Smartphones and computer equipment containing evidence of illegal activity were seized during the searches.
SSU investigators have notified the detainees of suspicion under Articles 28.2 and 111-2.1 of the CCU (aiding an aggressor state, committed by a group of persons, by prior conspiracy). They face up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
