SSU detains two enemy accomplices in Lviv on attempt to blow up Ukrainian serviceman’s car
The Security Service of Ukraine has foiled another attempt of russian intelligence services to commit a terrorist attack in Ukraine’s western regions. As a result of an operation in Lviv, the Service detained two agents who were preparing to blow up a car of a serviceman of the Defense Forces.
Both suspects were detained red-handed when they were planting an improvised explosive device disguised in a sports bag under the Ukrainian defender’s car.
The occupiers planned to remotely detonate the vehicle by calling one of the phones connected to the bomb.
The SSU established that the IED was equipped with 4.5 kg of explosives and nuts as additional striking elements.
According to the investigation, russia’s order was executed by two residents of Zakarpattia aged 22 and 23, who came to the enemy’s attention as they were looking for easy money on Telegram.
The agents arrived in Lviv, took the explosives from a cache and conducted additional reconnaissance near the serviceman’s car.
Opposite the target’s parking lot, they installed a phone camera with a remote access function for the occupiers.
In this way, russian special services wanted to record the consequences of the plotted terrorist attack.
However, the SSU’s cyber units identified the traitors at an early stage, neutralized the IED and the surveillance camera, preventing the terrorist attack.
SSU investigators notified the detainees of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Lviv Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The SSU is warning: russian special services have started using new tactics. They blow up their agents, use them unwittingly and then get rid of them as unnecessary witnesses.
