SSU detains FSB agent who spied on Ukrainian Marines in Mykolaiv posing as courier

The SSU has apprehended another FSB agent in Mykolaiv. The perpetrator was spying on Ukrainian units defending the port city.

The enemy was interested in the bases of Ukrainian Marines, as well as depots with weapons and ammunition.

To collect intelligence, the occupiers used an agent, a former local prisoner who had spent almost 20 years in prison for murder, robbery and assault.

The man came to the attention of the russian service while he was behind bars. After his release, he was contacted by an FSB officer via messenger apps.

After remote recruitment, a ‘cover story’ was created for the asset: he got a job with a local delivery service to ride a courier’s scooter around the city and take photos of military targets.

The agent sent the photos and videos with text descriptions to his russian handler via a messenger.

The SSU uncovered the traitor at an early stage, documented his criminal actions and apprehended him ‘red-handed’ when he was conducting reconnaissance near a potential target.

During the searches, a mobile phone with evidence of his communication with the occupiers was seized.

SSU investigators have now served him a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
