SSU detains FSB informant who set up observation post in Mykolaiv apartment to spy on AFU convoys

The SSU has exposed an FSB agent who spied on the movement of military convoys of Ukraine’s Defence Forces through Mykolaiv.

To collect intelligence, the perpetrator set up an observation post in his apartment.

From the windows, he monitored the movement of the Armed Forces units along one of the key motorways towards the frontline.

The enemy agent tried to determine the approximate amount of military equipment and paid special attention to heavy weapons.

The SSU uncovered the spy and documented his reconnaissance and sabotage activities.

Action was taken to protect Ukrainian units, while the suspect was caught in the act.

During the detention, the perpetrator and his son physically resisted law enforcement officers in an attempt to escape. However, they failed to do so.

According to the investigation, the agent was in contact with the pro-kremlin blogger Sergey Lebedev (aka ‘Lokhmatyi’), who is hiding in Donetsk and works for the FSB.

Communication was carried out through an anonymous chat in a messenger app.

During the search of the suspect’s apartment, a mobile phone with evidence of the crime was seized.

SSU investigators have served him a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on sending, transfer of weapons, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU, committed under martial law).

The spy is in custody and faces 12 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Mykolaiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
