SSU detains two FSB agents in Zaporizhzhia for passing Ukrainian servicemen’s personal data to enemy and ‘hunting’ for Ukraine’s air defence
As a result of counter-sabotage measures in Zaporizhzhia, the SSU’s cyber units have exposed another two agents of russia’s FSB. The enemy informants were reconnoitering combat positions of the AFU’s air defence systems and passing identity data of Ukrainian defenders to the aggressor.
One of the women-agents tried to identify locations of air defence missile systems in the frontline area of the oblast.
She also provided the FSB with the names and phone numbers of her relatives - soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and their comrades-in-arms fighting on the front line.
During ‘friendly chats’, the agent recorded her conversations with the military servicemen about battlefield tactics and then sent the audio files to the occupiers.
The second woman-traitor walked in the frontline areas and recorded locations of temporary bases of the AFU personnel and military equipment.
For each completed assignment, the FSB transferred up to UAH 6,000 (USD 157) to their assets’ bank cards.
The SSU exposed both offenders at the initial stage of their unlawful activities. Due to this, timely measures were taken to protect the Defence Forces units.
At the same time, SSU operatives documented the crimes in stages and detained the enemy agents at their homes.
According to the investigation, the aggressor’s accomplices are two Zaporizhzhia residents, recruited remotely by the FSB this summer.
They came to the FSB’s attention through their subscription to russian Telegram bots that collect intelligence on Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
During the searches, the SSU seized mobile phones used by both suspects to communicate with the enemy.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators have notified them of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
The suspects are in custody, facing life imprisonment. The investigation is ongoing.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
