Zaporizhzhia: SSU detains former policeman who wanted to join PMC Wagner and fight against Ukraine (video)

In the course of counter-sabotage efforts in Zaporizhzhia, the SSU detained another enemy accomplice.

He is a former law enforcement officer who was dismissed from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for corruption in 2009.

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he supported russia’s armed aggression and began to plan an escape to the temporarily occupied Melitopol to join the private military company Wagner.

To do this, the ex-policeman got in touch with his former colleagues - traitors who joined the so-called ‘russia’s ministry of interior’ in the captured part of the oblast.

With their help, the man hoped for a chance to illegally cross the southern frontline and get an ‘interview’ with the Wagner group commanders.

In the meantime, the suspect launched anti-Ukrainian activities on the banned social network Vkontakte.

He created an online group and ‘grew’ the subscriber count up to over 3,500 users.

In his publications under an assumed name, the enemy supporter actively disseminated posts glorifying PMC Wagner and its leader, Prigozhin.

He also denied russia’s missile attacks on Ukrainian cities and called to change Ukraine’s state borders.

During the searches at the suspect’s home, the SSU found the mobile phone and computer equipment used in the subversive activities.

Based on the collected evidence, the detainee has been served a notice of suspicion under Articles 436-2.2, 436-2.3 of the CCU (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The suspect is currently in custody. The investigation is underway.

The SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
