Zhytomyr region: SBU detains organizer of group, supplying weapons to criminals
SBU detained in Zhytomtr region the organizer of group, specialising in manufacture and sale of munitions to the criminal circles of the region.
During 15 searches in the residences and utility rooms of the suspects, law enforcement officers seized TNT grenades weighing 800 grams, electric detonators, RPG-22 anti-tank grenade, MON-50 anti-personnel mine, F-1 and RGD-5 grenades, two pistols and almost 2,000 rounds of 5.45 mm caliber.
The confiscated munitions have been sent for examination.
According to preliminary data of the pre-trial investigation, the group was organized by a resident of Korosten district. The malefactors set up sale of munitions, illegally imported from the Joint Forces Operation area. The group's organizer also set up an underground workshop for processing starting weapons into combat on the territory of his own household.
As part of the control over the commission of the crime, special service operatives documented several facts of firearms sale by the suspects.
The oranizer was served a notice of suspicion under Part 1 Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing a custody as a measure of restraint is currently being settled.
The investigative and operative actions on bringing to criminal responsibility other persons involved in the illegal activity are under way. The sources of supply of munitions from the Joint Forces Operation area are being identified.
The exposing operation was conducted jointly with the SBU Office in Zhytomyr region jointly with the National Police investigators under the procedural supervision of the Zhytomyr Region Prosecutor’s Office.
