SSU detains member of transnational drug syndicate wanted by Interpol for 6 years

In Lviv region, the SSU Counterintelligence has found and apprehended a member of a transnational drug syndicate.

For six years, the individual was wanted by the Interpol – as a member of an organized criminal group engaged in trafficking drugs and psychotropic substances in the European Union.

The detained offender is a citizen of a neighbouring European country. He came to Ukraine hoping to evade prosecution.

However, the SSU carried out a multi-stage special operation and disrupted his criminal plans.

The suspect is in custody pending extradition.

Efforts are underway to transfer the foreigner to the country of origin, which put him on the international wanted list.

The operation was conducted by the SSU Lviv Office jointly with the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
