SSU detains russian agent in Odesa who ‘hunted’ for Ukrainian anti-ship complexes Neptune (video)
During counter-sabotage measures in Odesa, the SSU detained an agent of russian special services.
The offender collected intelligence on location and movement of the AFU units in the city.
One of his objectives was to identify possible combat positions of Ukrainian air defence and Neptune coastal missile systems.
The enemy accomplice was also interested in information on location of checkpoints, fortifications and specifics of protection of energy generating facilities in the south of Ukraine.
The occupiers needed this intelligence to prepare and conduct targeted missile strikes on Odesa.
After enemy missiles hit the city infrastructure, the russian agent ‘reported’ to his handlers on the consequences of the strikes.
The SSU detained the agent on his attempt to pass classified information to the enemy.
According to the investigation, the detainee is a local resident, who at the beginning of the full-scale invasion contacted russian special services and offered them his assistance in the war against Ukraine.
The man communicated with the aggressor through anonymous messengers and social networks. Using these, he passed information on Ukrainian targets, including coordinates and detailed description of the area.
During the search at the suspect’s home, the law enforcement found a mobile phone and a laptop with evidence of his communication with the occupiers.
SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason). Court chose custody as a measure of restraint.
The SSU Office in Odesa Region carried out the operation jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
