SSU detains Odesa bank employee who leaked military servicemen’s personal data to FSB

The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed the FSB’s infiltration of Ukraine’s banking sector. A state bank employee who passed personal information about clients to the enemy has been detained in Odesa.

The aggressor state was interested in the personal details of military personnel of the Defence Forces who use the services of the financial institution.

The occupiers planned to use the data to prepare terrorist attacks, information subversions and recruitment operations against Ukrainian defenders.

To obtain intelligence, russia’s federal security service remotely recruited a 56-year-old woman from Odesa who worked as a cashier at a local branch of a state-owned bank.

The woman came to russia’s attention when she posted anti-Ukrainian comments on Telegram channels.

On the enemy orders, while carrying out cash transactions, the agent paid special attention to visitors in military uniform and with signs of injuries sustained in combat. When she identified such customers, she immediately reported them to her FSB handler.

During her free time, the woman also walked around the city and its suburbs and photographed locations where Defence Forces personnel were concentrated.

The SSU cyber units identified the agent, documented the crimes and detained her.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Odesa region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
