SSU detains student recruited by russia who directed strikes at Dnipropetrovsk region

The SSU Counterintelligence has exposed yet another enemy agent in the Dnipropetrovsk region. He turned out to be a local student directing strikes in the Nikopol district. The russians regularly attack the town with guided bombs, strike drones and artillery.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator directed enemy fire at the Defence Forces’ temporary bases and logistics centres.

He also attempted to reconnoitre key bridges and railway stations used by Ukrainian troops for freight transport.

To identify potential ‘targets’, the traitor walked in the frontline area and recorded them on his mobile phone camera.

After his reconnaissance, he compiled the information gathered into an intelligence report, in which he ‘tagged’ the photos to the geolocations of the sites on Google Maps.

The suspect subsequently travelled to the Cherkasy region, where he hoped to lay low in a rented flat to evade justice.

The SSU established his location and detained him. During a search, a smartphone containing evidence of his work for the enemy was seized.

As the investigation revealed, the russian intelligence recruited the student whilst he was seeking ‘easy money’ on Telegram channels.

Shortly afterwards, he received a ‘test’ assignment from the occupiers: to travel to Kyiv to track the parking location of a military serviceman’s car and pass on the relevant coordinates to his handler in russia.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Offices in the Cherkasy and Dnipropetrovsk regions under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
