SSU detains traitor who guided russian S-300 missile systems at Ukrainian positions near Vuhledar

The SSU Counterintelligence detained another russian military intelligence agent who adjusted enemy strikes on the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donetsk region.

On the occupiers’ instructions, the spy guided russian S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems at the temporary deployment points of the Defense Forces near Vuhledar.

Between attacks, he walked and explored the area, recording locations of Ukrainian troops and military equipment.

The enemy asset sent the collected data, screenshots of maps and texts, to the russian intelligence service via a popular messenger.

The SSU detained the agent near the frontline.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator is a resident of Vuhledar and formerly headed a unit of Donetsk Regional Customs.

Before the start of russia’s full-scale invasion, the ‘official’ retired and in December 2023 contacted the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces (the GRU) remotely.

To get in touch with them, the man called his former colleague, who is now a ‘liaison’ of the russian military intelligence in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk oblast.

During the searches, the SSU seized the suspect’s mobile phone with evidence of reconnaissance and sabotage against Ukraine.

SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody, facing life imprisonment.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
