SSU detains traitor who provided enemy with data on Mykolaiv defence

In the course of counter-sabotage operations in the south of Ukraine, the SSU exposed another FSB agent.

The offender is a resident of Vradiivka village, Mykolaiv region. The russian special service engaged him in covert cooperation through the banned social network Vkontakte.

On the occupiers’ instructions, the informant collected intelligence on locations and movement of Ukrainian Defence Forces in the region.

The enemy was primarily interested in accurate coordinates of Ukrainian troops and fortifications in Mykolaiv.

The traitor also passed information to the invaders on location of critical infrastructure facilities and their technical condition.

Russian troops required the intelligence to prepare and conduct missile strikes on Ukrainian targets.

The SSU detained the agent on his attempt to pass classified data to the aggressor.

The investigation established that the man had been recruited by the FSB after the start of the full-scale invasion.

The individual came to the attention of russian intelligence because he supported the kremlin regime in social networks and justified ruscists’ war crimes.

According to the investigation, the agent was in constant contact with a blogger in russia, who worked for the FSB.

Through him, the informant passed intelligence to the invaders.

To do this, he created cartographic materials in Google Maps, marked Ukrainian targets with labels and sent them to his ‘contact’ through anonymous messengers.

During searches at the suspect’s home, the SSU found computer equipment and smartphones with evidence of communication with a representative of the aggressor state.

The SSU has notified the detainee of suspicion under the Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.2 (high treason committed under martial law);
  • 436-2.2, 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The court chose custody as a measure of restraint.

The offender is facing up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Mykolaiv region jointly with the National Police under the supervision of Pervomaisk District Prosecutor’s Office.
