SSU detains traitor who set video traps to adjust russian strikes on Ukrainian military trains in Chernihiv region
The SSU Military Counterintelligence prevented a new attempt of the russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’) to cut off railway logistics of the Defense Forces in the north of Ukraine.
As a result of a special operation in Chernihiv region, the Security Service detained an enemy agent – a woman who adjusted the aggressor’s air strikes on Ukrainian railways.
The adversary was targeting junction stations with transit trains and echelons, which, according to the occupiers, were transporting military equipment and ammunition to the frontline.
To adjust the attacks, the perpetrator had to install a camouflaged video camera with a power bank and an online stream for the GRU near a local railway line.
Using the ‘video trap’, russia planned to track the arrival of the freight train to the railway logistics base and strike it from the air.
To ensure that the attack was successful and evaded Ukrainian air defenses, the occupiers instructed their asset to identify the radar stations on duty.
The SSU Military Counterintelligence foiled the GRU’s intentions. After documentation of the crime, russia’s accomplice was caught in the act when she was installing a video camera near the railway facility.
The suspect’s mobile phone and laptop, which she used to communicate with russia’s military intelligence, were seized during searches.
According to the investigation, the detained individual is a 29-year-old local unemployed woman who was looking for easy money on Telegram channels. There, she later came to the GRU’s attention.
SSU investigators served her a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out jointly with SSU investigators from Chernihiv Office under the procedural supervision of Chernihiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
