SSU detains FSB agent whom ruscists tried to blow up near Kherson Territorial Recruitment Center
The Security Service of Ukraine has foiled another attempt of russia to carry out a terrorist attack in Ukraine. The SSU has apprehended an enemy agent who was preparing an explosion near a Territorial Recruitment Center in Kherson.
On russia’s instructions, the terrorist was supposed to leave a bag with an improvised explosive device at the entrance to the military administrative building. At that moment, the russian special service planned to detonate the bomb remotely together with its agent.
The SSU uncovered the plan at an early stage and detained the suspect red-handed when he was near the site of the planned attack.
According to the investigation, the traitor is an unemployed resident of Cherkasy who came to the FSB’s attention through Telegram channels offering quick money.
After completing ‘test tasks’ in Cherkasy region, where he set fire to objects on Ukrainian railways, the asset was sent to Kherson to prepare a terrorist attack. There, he received the geolocation of a cache, from which he later took a ready-made IED.
The individual also installed a special app on his phone, which allowed the FSB to track his every move.
In this way, the russian service planned to establish the agent’s location in order to blow him up with the bomb near the Territorial Recruitment Center.
SSU investigators have now served the detainee a notice of suspicion under the Articles of the CCU:
· 113.2 (sabotage, committed under martial law);
· 15.2, 258.2 (attempted terrorist act).
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Cherkasy and Kherson regions jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Kherson Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region and Cherkasy Region Prosecutor’s Office.
