SSU completes investigation into its ex-employee who in 2014 headed ‘DNR’s internal forces’

The SSU has completed a pre-trial investigation into a former officer of the SSU, who at the beginning of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) in eastern Ukraine joined the illegal armed formations of the so-called ‘DNR’, in particular, the Vostok group.

Since then, he has been actively participating in military actions against the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine and hiding from justice.

The indictment against this individual has been sent to court. The SSU is acting to locate him and bring to justice for crimes against our state.

According to the investigation, the accused is Vasyl BOVSUNOVSKYI (call sign Kaban). He carried out reconnaissance and subversive activities and fired at the positions of the ATO forces.

Subsequently, terrorist leaders appointed him the commander of the so-called ‘military unit No 5002 of the internal troops of the DNR ministry of interior.’ There, the ‘commander’ organized special combat training and pro-kremlin ‘education’ of his subordinates.

At the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion, his units became part of the occupation forces on the eastern direction.

As part of a special pre-trial investigation, SSU investigators notified the ‘official’ of suspicion of crime under Article 258-3.1 of the CCU (participation in a terrorist organization) and declared him a wanted person.

The SSU Main Directorate for Internal Security and investigators of the SSU Office in Poltava Region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of Poltava Region Prosecutor’s Office.
