SSU collects evidence of war crimes committed by another 2 russian generals

The SSU has completed a pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment to court against the commander of russia’s eastern military district colonel general Aleksandr CHAIKO.

Another war criminal - commander of the 2nd army corps of the LNR people’s militia, major general Esedulla ABACHEV - has been notified of suspicion.

According to the investigation, Chaiko directly participated in planning, preparation and invasion of the territory of the North of Ukraine when russia began its full-scale aggression.

Heading the occupying group ‘east’, he commanded the subordinate units during the attempt to capture Kyiv.

To avoid shelling and fire of Ukrainian forces during the counteroffensive, the russian general set up his headquarters in a captured kindergarten in Zdvizhivka village, Bucha district.

At a stadium of a local school, he gave awards to his subordinates for committing war crimes in Kyiv region.

On the basis of the evidence collected, this russian military official is charged under Articles of the CCU:

  • 110.3 (trespass against territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine),
  • 437.2 (planning, preparation, unleashing and waging of an aggressive war).

The SSU has also gathered irrefutable evidence of war crimes committed by major general Eseddula Abachev. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he was appointed the so-called ‘commander of the 2nd army corps of LNR’s people’s militia’, which is subordinated to the 12th reserve command of the southern military district of the aggressor state.

Abachev commanded the invaders in the eastern direction. His stay and participation in hostilities against Ukrainian troops near Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Kreminna, Rubizhne and other settlements of Luhansk region have been documented.

For war crimes in the East of Ukraine, he was awarded the Hero of russia and Hero of LNR titles by the decision of russia’s top leadership.

SSU investigators have notified Abachev of suspicion of crimes under the Articles of the CCU:

  • 110.3 (deliberate actions aimed at changing the borders of Ukraine’s territory in violation of the procedure established by the Constitution, which led to death of people and other serious consequences);
  • 28.2, 437.2 (planning, preparation, unleashing and waging of an aggressive war, upon prior agreement by a group of persons).

Pre-trial investigations have been conducted by the SSU Main Investigative Department, investigators of the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office and Luhansk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
