SBU officers in Volyn region exposed a new channel for the illegal shipment of cigarettes to EU countries. The dealers smuggled tobacco products under the guise of ceramic tiles.

Law enforcement searched the offenders’ residences and seized almost 2,000 boxes of foreign-made cigarettes and alcohol-containing substances of unknown origin. The total cost of the seized goods is USD 600 000.

Investigative actions within the criminal proceedings initiated under abuse of power or official position and acceptance of the offer, the promise or reception of illegal benefit by the official.

The involvement of Volyn customs officers of the State Customs Service in illegal activities at the state border of Ukraine is being checked.

Measures to expose the offense were carried out by officers of the SBU Office in Volyn region together with operatives and investigators of the Territorial Department of the DBR, located in Lviv, under the procedural guidance of the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office.
