SSU and National Police detain suspects in Kyiv Darnytskyi district terrorist attack (video)
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have identified three men who carried out a double terrorist attack in Kyiv on December 11. The detention took place within six hours of the explosions.
According to the investigation, the perpetrators were acting on orders from russian intelligence services.
All three detainees are Ukrainian citizens, natives of Odesa and Donetsk regions, aged 23, 27, and 25.
In Kyiv, they worked as labourers on construction sites and at the same time sought easy money on Telegram, where they were recruited by the enemy.
After receiving the task of plotting a terrorist attack, the executors divided up the roles and, acting covertly, purchased components for improvised explosive devices in different stores.
Having made the bombs, they placed them at the coordinates provided by their russian handler. To stream online and coordinate the explosion, the ruscists set up mobile phones near the site of the attack, which transmitted the video to the enemy.
Both explosions occurred in an industrial area patrolled by National Guard personnel.
The first explosion was triggered when two National Guard servicemen were passing by the IED. As a result, one of them was killed, and the other soldier and a security guard suffered injuries of varying severity.
The next explosion occurred when the law enforcement team arrived at the scene. Two police officers were injured in the explosion.
The SSU and the National Police quickly identified the perpetrators and arrested them at their homes.
The criminal proceedings were opened under Article 258.3 of the CCU (terrorist act resulting in death). The detained persons will shortly be notified of suspicion.
The suspects were located and detained by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv Region jointly with the National Police Main Directorate in Kyiv, under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
