SBU blocks more than 30 illegal gambling halls
Since the beginning of March, the SBU jointly with Gambling Commission blocked activities of more than 30 gambling halls and 2 casinos. It was established that part of the illegally obtained funds was used to finance “DNR/LNR” terrorist organizations.
The SBU blocked an illegal activity of gambling halls in Kyiv, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, Odesa, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy and Chernihiv regions. During the investigation, the SBU officers seized:
- over 600 units of computer equipment;
- 14 poker tables;
- 5 roulettes;
- playing chips, cards, accessories for card games, cash
- mobile phones;
- draft records with client databases and video recorders.
Information on possible involvement of law enforcement officers in illegal activities is being checked.
The issue of serving the offender a notice of suspicion of engagement in prohibited businesses activity, abuse of office and financing of terrorism is being decided.
The SBU Main Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime jointly with the SBU regional offices conducts systematic work to combat illegal gambling business, which is carried out without the relevant licenses of the Gambling Commission.
