The Coordination Group of the Anti-terrorist Centre at the SBU Office in Cherkasy region conducted drills on countering terrorist threats in the region.

The trainings took place on the territory of one of the correctional facilities. The units of the SBU, the State Border Guard Service, the National Guard, the State Emergency Service, as well as the state officials and local self-government representatives took part in the near-real conditions training.

According to the legend of the exercises, conditional "terrorists" who were in the penitentiary took hostages of security guards. In case of failure to comply with requirements, the "criminals" threatened to blow up the "explosive device" that their accomplices allegedly planted in the crowded place.

After fruitless negotiations, a decision was made to conduct a force phase of the anti-terrorist operation.

During the assault, "terrorists" were captured, hostages were released and a conditional "explosive" was neutralized.

Following the training, the Coordination Group analyzed each stage, as well as the level of readiness and interagency cooperation of units. The administration of the correctional facility received instructions on improvment of the anti-terrorist protection of the regime facility.
