The SBU Internal Security Department detained a local resident in Mykolaiv city for offer to give a bribe to the SBU officer for assistance of the foreigners’ legalization.

The offender proposed the SBU officer USD 500 for assistance in the issuance of residence permits to two citizens of a country with an increased terrorist threat. The SBU officer immediately informed his management about the illegal offer.

SBU operatives organized an “additional” meeting of the SBU officer and the offender. They documented the intention to bribe the officer of the regional SBU Office.

The law enforcement detained the offender in a cafe during giving a bribe in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine.

The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the detainee of giving a bribe is being settled. The type of detention is being chosen.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Main National Police Department in Mykolaiv region under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Mykolaiv region.
