Ukraine completes repatriation of fallen defenders by railway
On June 15, the railway repatriation phase was completed. This made it possible to expedite the delivery of the bodies of fallen Ukrainian defenders to institutions in several regions, where further identification and other activities will take place.
The next stages of repatriation will be carried out using road vehicles, as stipulated by the agreements reached in Istanbul.
The current events were attended by representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross. They highly assessed the organization of the repatriation of Ukraine’s fallen defenders. According to them, the repatriation took place at the highest level, in compliance with all international practices and with proper respect for the fallen soldiers.
The fallen defenders were returned as a result of joint efforts of the Joint Center for Coordination of Search and Liberation of Prisoners of War under the SSU, the Central Department of Central Military Cooperation of the AFU, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of Human Rights Commissioner, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons, the State Emergency Service, the State Border Guard Service, other entities of the Security and Defense Sector of Ukraine, as well as thanks to the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia and the team of the Southwestern Railway, who were directly involved in the activities.
The SSU continues to fulfill the tasks set by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, adhering to the highest standards.
