The SBU military CI officers prevented corrupt appointment to a leading position in the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

SBU operatives established that a resident of Kyiv “selected” candidates for a position in the Main Department of Property and Resources of the Ministry of Defense. For USD 60.000, she offered a leading position in a central administrative body of the Ministry to a former director of a state-owned company. The woman promised to “resolve the issue” using her connections in the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Justice.

The law enforcement detained the offender in Odesa on taking the “advance” in the amount of USD 5.000.

Within the criminal proceedings initiated for taking a bribe, the investigation is ongoing in order to establish and bring to justice all persons, including the officials involved in the corruption scheme.

The operation was conducted by the SBU Military Counterintelligence Department jointly with the Main Department of the National Police in Odesa Region under the legal supervision of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Military and Defense Sphere of the Southern Region.
