At SSU’s initiative, russian assets worth UAH 200 mln seized and transferred to ARMA

Following an investigation by the SSU, property and corporate rights of two enterprises in Ivano-Frankivsk region have been seized. These companies specialize in cardboard and paper products for industry, their assets amount to over UAH 200 mln (USD 4,9 mln).

The ultimate beneficiary of 100% of the authorized capital of one of the enterprises is the russian government; in the other company, it owns 75%.

The investigation established that russia owns the enterprises through a chain of interconnected institutions - two russian banks and one LLC.

The SSU found out that after the beginning of russia’s full-scale aggression, the top management of these companies tried to seize these assets. They started transferring their property to a company controlled by them.

The SSU prevented the completion of this process. Basing on the SSU’s findings, the court seized the assets including:

  • corporate rights worth UAH 14.8 mln (USD 370,000);
  • an integral property production complex worth UAH 190 mln (USD 4,7 mln).

At the SSU’s initiative, the assets were transferred to be managed by the National Agency for Detection, Tracing and Management of Assets Obtained from Corruption and Other Crimes (ARMA). The transfer of the property to Ukraine’s management will help organize efficient operation of enterprises.

The investigation was opened under the three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • 364 (abuse of power or official position);
  • 209 (laundering of assets obtained by crime);
  • 110-2 (financing of actions aimed at a violent change or overthrow of constitutional order or seizure of state power, change of territory or state border of Ukraine).

The SSU Office in Ivano-Frankivsk Region carried out the operation and investigation under the coordination of the SSU Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Support of Critical Infrastructure and Combating Terrorism Financing together with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Ivano-Frankivsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
