Following SSU investigation, two FSB agents who acted together and spied in three Ukrainian regions sentenced to life imprisonment
Based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, another two FSB agents have been convicted to life imprisonment with confiscation of property. They worked in tandem to adjust enemy strikes on three regions of Ukraine.
The investigation established that one of the perpetrators is a displaced person from Kharkiv region who came to russia’s attention during the occupation of the area at the beginning of the full-scale war.
After recruitment, the traitor, following instructions of russia’s federal security service, enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to spy from within.
While at the training center in Zhytomyr region, he began to pass the data on the location of the Defence Forces to the occupiers.
He was then appointed driver of a support company of the AFU airborne assault brigade and deployed to Donetsk region. There, the agent identified the coordinates of army depots that the enemy planned to strike.
Later, he recruited an acquaintance from Odesa region to cooperate with russia’s FSB. To collect coordinates of potential targets, the new asset travelled around the region by public transport and recorded the locations of military installations.
The agent focused primarily on the location of Ukrainian air defence forces protecting the port cities on the Black Sea coast.
The SSU detained both enemy accomplices in January 2023 in Kramatorsk and Podilsk.
During searches, smartphones containing evidence of their activities on behalf of the enemy were seized from the detainees.
Based on the investigations of the Security Service, both accused were found guilty under Articles 28.2 and 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed by a group by prior conspiracy, under martial law).
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Sumy Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
