Following SSU CI investigation, leader of Vostok terrorist group sentenced
Following the SSU CI investigation, Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Chernivtsi sentenced a militant of the DNR terrorist organization in absentia to 10 years in prison.
The SSU established that in 2014, a radicalized 28-year-old native of Makiivka, Donetsk region, aka Mikha, joined the Vostok militant group. His command assignments included platoon commander, deputy company commander of a motorized rifle battalion and first deputy regiment chief of staff. He took part in hostilities against the Armed Forces and law enforcement of Ukraine in the vicinity of Donetsk airport, Yasynivka, Krasnyi Partyzan, and Panteleimonivka.
As acting regiment commander, the militant led the IAF and, according to testimonies, gave orders for combat actions in Avdiivka, Pisky, and Savur-Mohyla. Occupation authorities awarded his ‘achievements’ on multiple occasions.
Moreover, Mikha cooperated with Russian intelligence and often travelled to Russia.
The court found the militant guilty of participation in a terrorist group and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Currently, he is a wanted fugitive hiding in the separatist-held territory of Donetsk region.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Chernivtsi Region Prosecutor’s Office.
