Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, an enemy agent, exposed in October 2024 for carrying out arson attacks in the Odesa region, has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars and confiscation of property.

The convict is a local unemployed man recruited by the enemy. He was spotted by ruscists whilst seeking ‘easy’ money on Telegram channels.

In one such chat, a representative of the russian intelligence approached him and offered money for setting fire to administrative buildings and the vehicles of Ukrainian servicemen.

It has been established that, following the enemy’s instructions, the asset prepared flammable mixtures and first set fire to a local village council building.

Whilst at the scene of the crime, he filmed the blaze on his mobile phone for a ‘report’ for his handler.

The perpetrator then set fire to a Ukrainian Armed Forces off-road vehicle.

The SSU detained the arsonist ‘red-handed’. During searches, a mobile phone containing evidence of the sabotage activities in the interests of the aggressor state was seized from him.

On the basis of evidence collected by the Security Service, the court found the accused guilty under three Articles of the CCU:

• 114-1.1 (obstruction of lawful activities of the AFU during a special period);
• 194.2 (wilful destruction or damage to property by arson);
• 258.2 (a terrorist act committed by a group, by prior conspiracy).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Odesa region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
