Following SSU investigation, military logistics head sentenced to 10 years in prison for stealing from AFU food warehouses
Based on evidence collected by military counterintelligence and investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine, in coordination with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the head of logistics of a training regiment, who was detained by the SSU in May 2025 for stealing the military unit's food supplies, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Investigators documented 59 episodes of theft from the secure facility's food warehouses, totaling nearly UAH 500,000.
The investigation revealed that the official covertly loaded the food supplies into his personal vehicle and drove them off the military base.
He involved his subordinate, the head of the canteen, in the criminal activity, who has been served with a notice of suspicion and is awaiting sentencing.
It was established that the logistics head supplied part of the stolen goods to local shops and cafes for sale. The 'profits' were then split between him and the business owners.
The rest of the supplies he either kept for himself or sold to acquaintances.
During searches of the suspect’s home, the investigators found cash obtained through criminal means and wholesale quantities of food products.
The court found the perpetrator guilty under two Article 410.4 of the CCU (theft, embezzlement, or extortion of military property by a serviceman, committed under martial law).
In addition, the convict was stripped of his military rank of major.
The investigation was conducted jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Desnianskyi Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Region.
