Following SSU’s investigation, russian informant who spied on Ukrainian artillery near Avdiivka sentenced to 10 years in prison
The SSU has collected evidence against another aggressor’s accomplice, who provided the enemy with intelligence on locations and movements of Ukraine’s Defence Forces in the frontline areas of Donetsk oblast.
The offender tried to identify and pass to russian occupiers coordinates of locations of the AFU’s personnel, artillery positions and logistics routes of Ukrainian troops near Avdiivka.
The SSU detained the spy in February 2023 during counter-sabotage measures.
Following the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced him to 10 years in prison.
The informant is a resident of Myrnohrad. In late 2022, he was recruited for reconnaissance and sabotage against Ukraine by an officer of the ‘DNR’s intelligence directorate’.
The man came to the enemy’s attention because of his activity in russian social networks, where he published anti-Ukrainian comments after russia launched its full-scale invasion.
To collect data, the agent walked in the frontline areas of Pokrovsk district and covertly recorded locations of Ukrainian defenders.
He transmitted the intelligence to the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region via Telegram.
Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on shipment, movement of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU or other lawful military formations).
The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
