Following SSU investigation, accomplice in terrorist attack in Kharkiv region – when ruscists blew up their 15-year-old agent – sentenced to 12 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, another enemy agent has been convicted to prison; she was detained by the SSU in February 2025 following a terrorist attack in the Kharkiv region.
At the time, a National Guard soldier was killed in the explosion of an improvised explosive device, as was a minor, whom the ruscists had used as a ‘courier’ to deliver the bomb.
The convicted agent is an unemployed resident of Kharkiv who was recruited by the russian intelligence services via Telegram channels offering ‘easy money’.
Following enemy instructions, the woman constructed a remote-controlled improvised explosive device and fitted it with metal nuts to increase its destructive power.
The perpetrator subsequently handed over the bomb, concealed in a sports bag, to her accomplice – a 15-year-old schoolboy recruited by the enemy – who was to take the explosives by taxi to a National Guard military unit.
The young man’s entire route was tracked by his russian handlers using the GPS navigation on his smartphone.
Upon the ‘courier’s’ arrival at the location, the russians remotely detonated the explosive device, killing the minor as he was handing over the ‘parcel’ to a Ukrainian soldier.
The SSU Counterintelligence found the woman who had manufactured the improvised explosive device for this high-profile terrorist attack and apprehended her at her home.
Based on evidence collected by the Security Service, the court found the accused guilty under three Articles of the CCU:
- 27.5, 258.3 (aiding and abetting a terrorist act resulting in loss of life);
- 263-1.2 (unlawful manufacture of explosive substances or explosive devices);
- 263.1 (unlawful acquisition and possession of an explosive device).
Taking into account the aggregate offences, her cooperation with the investigation and the fact that she has three young children, the court sentenced her to 12 years in prison.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
