Following SSU’s investigation, enemy informant who adjusted attack on Ukraine’s largest market sentenced to 12 years
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court sentenced an informant of russia’s GRU (the main directorate of the general staff of the russian armed forces) to a real prison term. The traitor adjusted russian missile and artillery strikes on crowded venues in Kharkiv.
It was on his ‘guidance’ that last year the occupiers carried out a strike on the local Barabashovo market, the largest commercial establishment in Ukraine.
The investigation also established that the informant had been collecting intelligence on locations of Ukraine’s Defence Forces in Kharkiv, including fortifications and routes of movement of Ukrainian troops towards the eastern front.
The SSU detained the spy in August 2022 in the course of counter-sabotage activities in Kharkiv.
Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
The convicted enemy accomplice is a local resident who, after the start of russia’s full-scale invasion, provided data on location and movement of the AFU units to a russian Telegram bot.
In this way, he came to the attention of the GRU, which subsequently recruited him remotely.
Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under the Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on sending, transfer of weapons, armaments and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
