Following SSU’s investigation, russian informant who ‘hunted’ for AFU’s combat drones near Avdiivka and Bakhmut sentenced to 12 years in prison

The SSU has collected evidence on another collaborator who adjusted russian air attacks on Ukrainian positions in the frontline areas of Donetsk oblast.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the woman in January 2023. She is a resident of Iverske village, Kramatorsk district. Last summer, russian intelligence recruited her remotely for reconnaissance and sabotage against Ukraine.

On the occupiers’ instructions, the agent collected information on locations and movements of Ukrainian defenders on Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions.

Primarily, the informant tried to identify combat positions of artillery, anti-aircraft missile systems and combat drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The aggressor was also interested in coordinates of Ukrainian military hospitals, ammunition depots, and electronic warfare units.

The enemy asset passed the information to a ‘liaison’ in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region.

Telegram messenger was used for communication, and the intelligence was transmitted as text messages and screenshots of Google Maps with marked targets.

The invaders used the obtained data to prepare new air strikes on the area.

During the search, the SSU found the mobile phone, which the agent used for contacting the enemy special service.

Based on the collected evidence, the court found the accused guilty of collaboration (Article 111-1.7 of the CCU) and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
