Following SSU’s investigation, spotter who guided russian missiles on Sloviansk by voice messages sentenced to 12 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another informant of russian intelligence services, who collected intelligence on Ukraine’s Defence Forces in Donetsk oblast, has been convicted to imprisonment.
The perpetrator tried to identify and pass on to the aggressor the locations of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the SSU and the State Border Guard Service near Sloviansk.
The enemy spy was interested in coordinates of staffs, concentrations of military equipment and locations of warehouses with weapons for Ukrainian defenders.
He transmitted the information to the occupiers through ‘liaisons’. These turned out to be a militant of a separate motorised rifle regiment and a battalion commander from the motorized rifle Yenakiyevo-Danube brigade of the Southern military district of the russian army.
To transmit the data, the agent used voice messages sent by one of the popular messenger apps, hoping to ‘anonymize’ his communication with the aggressor.
The invaders needed the information to prepare strikes on the region’s infrastructure.
The SSU Counterintelligence established the suspect’s location and apprehended him in his apartment. A mobile phone, which the informant used to communicate with the occupiers, was seized during the search.
According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is a resident of Sloviansk who supported russia’s armed aggression.
Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (providing assistance to the armed forces of the aggressor state in conducting warfare against the AFU and other military formations).
Given the offender’s cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced him to 12 years behind bars.
The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
