Following SSU’s investigation, enemy agent sentenced to 12 years in prison for collecting intelligence on AFU artillery near Avdiivka

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another agent of russian intelligence has been convicted to prison. He was tracking the locations of Ukraine’s Defence Forces near the frontline in Donetsk oblast.

The spy’s particular focus was on possible deployment of rocket and cannon artillery near Avdiivka.

Using his ‘input’, the occupiers planned to carry out a missile and drone attack on Ukrainian combat positions.

The SSU was proactive and detained the traitor in the summer of 2023, when he was conducting reconnaissance near a Defence Forces facility.

The AFU units were timely warned and protected, while the aggressor’s plans to strike them were thwarted.

Considering his cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced the accused to 12 years in prison.

The convict is an unemployed resident of Pokrovsk, who was recruited remotely by the russian military intelligence in the spring of 2023.

His anti-Ukrainian activity on the banned social network Odnoklassniki brought him the aggressor’s attention.

Based on the evidence, the court found the agent guilty under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (assistance to the armed forces of the aggressor state in conducting warfare against the AFU).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
