Following SSU investigation, collaborator who leaked AFU artillery positions near Pokrovsk to enemy sentenced to 13 years in prison

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another traitor, who worked for russian intelligence, has been convicted to prison.

The perpetrator passed to the aggressor the locations of the Defence Forces in Donetsk region. The occupiers were interested in the coordinates of strongholds and firing positions of Ukrainian artillery on Pokrovsk direction, the hottest area of the frontline.

To obtain intelligence, the enemy accomplice hitchhiked around the frontline villages of the district and covertly recorded geolocations of Ukrainian troops.

After each raid, he would report to the enemy through ‘liaisons’ - several militants of the russian occupation units fighting on the eastern front.

The asset transmitted the data in voice messages through one of the messenger apps.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the collaborator as a result of a special operation in Pokrovsk district in May this year.

The investigation established that the enemy accomplice was a local resident who, on his own initiative, had contacted the russian intelligence through pro-kremlin Telegram channels.

During a search of his home, a mobile phone used for communication with the occupiers was seized.

The court found the accused guilty under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (collaboration, providing assistance to the armed forces of the aggressor state in conducting warfare against the AFU) and sentenced him to 13 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
