Following SSU investigation, collaborator from occupation ‘interior ministry’ in Balakliya sentenced to 13 years in prison

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another collaborator who worked for russia during the occupation of Balakliia, Kharkiv region, has been convicted to 13 years of imprisonment.

According to the SSU Military Counterintelligence, the perpetrator is a former employee of a local heating network who joined the occupation ‘russian ministry of internal affairs’ after the area was captured.

There, he was appointed to the so-called ‘rapid response unit’, which carried out mass repressions against the town’s population.

Together with the occupiers, the man participated in raids on local residents who opposed the kremlin regime.

During such ‘actions’, people were abducted to russian torture chambers and their homes were looted under the pretext of ‘searches’.

For his cooperation with the aggressor, the traitor received a ‘salary’ in russian rubles from the occupation authority.

After Balakliia’s liberation, the collaborator first hid at his temporary home and then tried to escape to the village of Pershotravneve in Kharkiv region.

The SSU found and detained him in the spring of 2023.

After the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (collaboration) and sentenced to 13 years in prison.

The investigation was carried out jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Kharkiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
