Following SSU investigation, GRU agent sentenced to 15 years in prison for planning two bombings in Vinnytsia
Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, a female agent of the russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’), who was exposed in March 2025, has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and confiscation of property.
The SSU detained the perpetrator in Vinnytsia following a special operation, while she was preparing to blow up a Ukrainian Armed Forces vehicle and a police administration building with improvised bombs.
The investigation revealed that the terrorist attacks had been planned by an unemployed resident of the Kyiv region who had been recruited by russia.
The woman came to the GRU’s attention while looking for ‘easy’ money on Telegram.
After the recruitment, she travelled to Vinnytsia and settled in a rented flat. She then received the coordinates of a cache from her handler, where she collected two improvised explosive devices.
According to the instructions, the agent was to place one explosive device under a Ukrainian soldier’s car and the second near a district police station.
Near each planned attack site, she was to set up hidden video cameras with remote access for the russians.
The russian operatives hoped to use these ‘camera traps’ to track potential ‘targets’ and remotely detonate the bombs.
However, the SSU identified the agent at an early stage and caught her while she was installing a concealed camera near a Ukrainian defender’s vehicle.
During a search of her belongings, two improvised explosive devices and a mobile phone containing evidence of her working for the enemy were seized.
Based on evidence, the court found the accused guilty of high treason under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Office in the Vinnytsia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
