Following SSU investigation, rf GRU agent who adjusted enemy strikes on Kharkiv and was waiting for city occupation sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, another agent of russian military intelligence (better known as ‘GRU’), who was detained in Kharkiv in spring this year, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The perpetrator adjusted russian missile and bomb strikes and anticipated the occupation of the regional centre and the entire eastern region of Ukraine.
As the investigation established, a 46-year-old local unemployed woman recruited by the enemy was responsible for directing russian air strikes. The woman came to the enemy’s attention while calling for the capture of Kharkiv on Telegram channels.
After being recruited, the agent was trained to conduct covert monitoring of the Defense Forces positions located in the frontline city.
Subsequently, the woman surveyed the area, tracked the locations of Ukrainian defenders and took photos of them. She sent the collected files with her own comments to the representative of GRU via messenger.
These obtained materials were used by the occupiers to prepare massive strikes on the city.
During the searches, a smartphone with evidence of working for the enemy was seized from the perpetrator.
Based on evidence collected by the SSU investigators, the panel of judges has found the agent guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
The investigation was conducted by the SSU officers in Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor's office.
