Following SSU’s investigation, two traitors who stormed Avdiivka sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another two militants who fought against Ukraine’s Defence Forces in Donetsk region have been convicted to prison.
Both perpetrators fired automatic weapons at the AFU positions near Avdiivka.
Ukrainian defenders captured them during enemy attacks on the city in June and in late 2023.
The court found the accused guilty and sentenced to 15 years in prison, after an investigation by the SSU.
One of the convicts is a resident of the temporarily occupied Donetsk. On the first day of russia’s full-scale invasion, he voluntarily joined the occupation groupings of russia’s Southern military district.
He was appointed a rifleman in the 115th rifle regiment and sent to the unit’s base near Horlivka.
From there, the regiment was to move towards Avdiivka to storm the city.
Another convict is a 33-year-old resident of the temporarily occupied Snizhne, Donetsk region. In the spring of 2023, he joined the 267th rifle battalion of the russian army.
After a short course at a training ground, he was appointed a machine gunner and sent to fight at the eastern front.
Based on the evidence, the court found him guilty under three Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 258-3.1 (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization);
- 260.2 (participation in unlawful paramilitary or armed groups).
The rifleman was convicted under the Articles of the CCU:
- 111.1, 111.2 (high treason);
- 111-1.7 (providing assistance to the armed forces of the aggressor state in conducting warfare against the AFU and other military formations).
The investigations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Lviv, Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Lviv and Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Offices.
