Following SSU investigation, another 11 traitors who fought against Defense Forces sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, another eleven traitors who defected to the enemy and fought against the Defense Forces in Donetsk and Luhansk regions received real prison sentences.
Ukrainian servicemen captured militants during intense hostilities in the Pokrovsk, Kramatorsk, and Siversk areas of the front line.
Based on materials from the SSU Military Counterintelligence and investigators, the court sentenced them to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The investigation has established that the suspects are residents of the temporarily occupied territories in eastern Ukraine who voluntarily joined the ranks of the russian Armed Forces.
One of the traitors is a machine gunner from the 125th rifle regiment who shelled AFU positions in Kherson region, and later built russian strongholds near the village of Ivanivka, Donetsk region.
Five others, who were serving in the russian 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade and various units of the 1st Army Corps, assisted the enemy in attempts to seize Kurakhove, where they were captured.
The other three suspects joined the aggressor’s 123rd Motorized Rifle Brigade, where they constructed enemy firing positions on the territory of the captured oil refinery in Lysychansk, Luhansk region.
The last two belonged to the 85th and 7th russian motorized brigades. One, a former convict, fought near Fedorivka, and the other participated in attacks against Ukrainian defenders near Verkhnokamianske.
Based on the evidence collected by SSU investigators, the accused were found guilty under Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 and 111.1 (high treason);
- 111-1.7 (collaboration).
The operation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Offices.
